NORTH ANDOVER — James E. Tamagnine 83, of North Andover, died Tuesday, at his residence.
James was born in North Andover on Oct. 6, 1930, to the late Primo Romeo and Gemma (Bianchi) Tamagnine.
He was employed as a firefighter for the town of North Andover for 28 years, retiring in 1991 as a Lieutenant. James served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the North Andover V.F.W. Post 2104, the Disabled American Veterans Queen City Chapter and the Massachusetts Permanent Firefighter’s Association.
James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie J.(DeSimone) Tamagnine of North Andover; his daughter Lea M. Zurek and her husband, Larry of Newton, N.H.; and his two sons, James E. Tamagnine and his wife, Jane of North Andover and John A. Tamagnini and his wife, Beth of Hampton Falls, N.H. Also among his survivors are his sister, Thelma Harvey of North Andover and his grandchildren, Robert Poirier, Ryan Poirier and his wife, Jessica, Gianna, Anthony, Augustus, Gemma and Guilena Tamagnini; as well as step-grandchildren, Ryan Adams, Robin Lemieux and Jeff Adams. James was predeceased by his sisters, Julia Rogers and Lena Nicora.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, also in North Andover.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover.
