North Andover — Joan F. Blottman, 82, a resident of North Andover, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at Sutton Hill Center in North Andover.
Joan was born in Arlington, Mas., on October 7, 1931, to the late Almyra L. (Cote) Griffin and John F. Griffin, past president of the North Cambridge Cooperative Bank. She was raised and educated in Cambridge. After high school, she attended Emmanuel College in Boston and received her bachelor’s degree, she then continued her education and graduated from State Teachers College at Boston with her master’s degree in teaching.
She was employed by the East Boston Public School System, where she taught first grade for several years before her marriage to John B. Blottman Jr. in 1956. She then took on the role of mother, which she could not have been any happier doing, as her children and family were her joy in life.
Joan is survived by her husband, John B. Blottman Jr. of North Andover; children, Joan Koesterherm and her husband, Peter, of North Andover, John B. Blottman III of North Andover, and Peter F. Blottman of Melbourne, Fla. She also leaves behind siblings, Patricia L. Carey of Haverhill, and John F. Griffin Jr. of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Monday June 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover, Mass. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 17, at 10 a.m., at St. Michael’s Church in North Andover, followed by burial in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover.
