Dracut, MA — Velma A. (Austin) Parent, 87, of Dracut, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, peacefully, at Baker Katz Nursing Home in Haverhill. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alfred C. Parent.
Velma was born in northern Maine on September 5, 1926. She was educated in Maine, and worked in the textile mills as a young woman.
Velma dedicated her life to caring for her family, whom she loved very much.
Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Alfred G. Parent. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary E. Parent of Haverhill; grandson, Matthew Parent, of Haverhill; granddaughter, Stacey Stanley and her husband, Jason, of Gloucester; her son, Mark Parent and his wife, Susan; grandsons sons, Brian Bradley and Aaron Parent; great-grandchildren, Dakotah and Alex; her brother, Morris Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, on Thursday, June 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. Her funeral will take place from the funeral home, at 8 a.m., on Friday June 27, with her funeral Mass to follow, at 9 a.m., at Ste. Marguerite D’Youville Parish/St. Theresa’s Church in Dracut. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Velma’s name to Baker Katz Nursing Home 194 Boardman St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
