Bradford, MA — Maurice R. Berard, 67, a longtime resident of Bradford, died on Saturday January 18, 2014, following a period of declining health.
Born in Lowell on December 7, 1946, he was a son of the late Louis and Jeanne (Carignan) Berard.
Moe was an accomplished chef, and over the years, had worked at many local restaurants, including the former Coq D'Or Restaurant in Dracut, Timmy Meehan's in Haverhill, and most recently, Chicks Roast Beef and Seafood in Bradford.
He is survived by his children, Steven Berard and his companion, Michelle Langlois of Haverhill, Kevin Berard and his wife, Dawn, of Haverhill, and Paul Berard and his wife, Marina, of Plaistow, N.H. He was the beloved "Pepere" to Calib and Payton Berard of Plaistow. He is also survived by a sister, Theresa Sawyer of Lowell; four brothers and four sisters-in-law, Raymond and Pauline Berard of Dracut, Andre "Andy" and Sue Berard of Pelham, N.H., Donald and Louise Berard of Salem, N.H., and Jean and Lois Berard of Nashua; a brother-in-law, Elphege Laurent of Lowell; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He was the brother of the late Emile, Paul, Robert, Irene and Cecile Berard, Jeannette Bedard, Yvette Champagne, and Claire Laurent and Aline Laurent.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his life celebration to be held at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth St., Lowell, from 4 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday. His funeral service will take place on Thursday, at 9 a.m., in the Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Rd., Chelmsford. Please meet directly at the chapel.
