Palm Harbor, FL — Born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1942 then moved to New York when he was young. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1959-1963.
Working in the construction industry his whole life was very fulfilling and allowed him to make many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah; son, Michael and granddaughter, Shannon. His wonderful wife, Nancy Meader Torney, predeceased him and is still missed by all.
He was especially happy with his work in the Catholic mission in Tanzania, East Africa which he visited many times. His work there included the building of an orphanage in honor of his mother.
Blessed with a great sense of humor, he will be remembered for his story telling ability which tested the limits of credibility and often exceeded them.
He enjoyed a rich and full life and will be missed by his family and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: A wake will be held Friday, January 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Conte Funeral Home in Georgetown, MA. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Georgetown, MA.
