M. Barbara McSweeney, 90


Haverhill — M. Barbara McSweeney, 90, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the Sutton Hill Nursing Center in North Andover, after a lengthy period of declining health.

Born Mary Barbara McSweeney in Haverhill on August 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late, Peter J. and Margaret I. (Kellett) McSweeney. A lifelong member of St. James Parish, she attended the St. James Grammar School, and was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1951.

Miss McSweeney was employed as an administrator for the Beneficial Finance Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1989.

Barbara leaves cousins and many friends in the Haverhill area. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent J. McSweeney.

ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Thursday morning, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Route 125, Haverhill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning, at 11:30 a.m., in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose St., Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the St. Vincent dePaul Society of St. James Parish, 6 Cottage St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
