Andover, MA — Gregory “Greg” D. Freije, 60, a lifelong resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Greg was born in Dearborn, MI, the son of Clifford C. Freije and the late Rose (Hadad) Freije. He was educated in the Andover School system and graduated from Andover High School in 1971, where he played on the high school football team. Greg was involved in Scouting and achieved Eagle Scout. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1976. Greg was a self-employed automobile engineer for the past 40 years, who restored vehicles and was a mentor to many. Greg was a lifelong parishioner of St. George Orthodox Church in Lawrence. Friends and family recall his generosity and easy way in meeting and keeping friends. They also recall his gourmet cooking for family and friends.
He is survived by his father, Clifford C. Freije of Andover; sisters, Cynthia Anheier and her husband, Alfred, of Reno, NV, Leslie Robles and her husband, Rey Robles, of Reno, NV; nieces, Erika Robles and Sally and Emily Anheier. In addition, he is survived by several cousins and friends. He joins his beloved mother, Rose (Hadad) Freije, who predeceased him.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. George Orthodox Church, 8 Lowell St., Lawrence. Burial will follow in United Lebanese Charitable Society Cemetery in Andover. Friends may call Friday, February 7, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Farrah Funeral Home, 133 Lawrence St., Lawrence, MA 01841.
