Amesbury, MA — Marion Esther (Brush) Main, of Amesbury, passed away peacefully at Haverhill Crossings, Haverhill. She was born in Fairfax, Vermont, and was the daughter of the late Wesley Norton Brush and Lelia Belle (Griffin) Brush. She was married to the late Harland I. Main for 65 years. After graduating from Hillsborough High School, NH, she worked at the American Guernsey Cattle Club in Peterborough, NH.
She proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II at Marine Corps Headquarters in Washington, DC from 1944 to 1946. Honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant, she married and moved to Amesbury.
She was very active in and volunteered for the Main Street Congregational Church for sixty-five years. She volunteered in many Amesbury organizations including the Ladies’ Charitable Aid as Treasurer for many years. Marion was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and enjoyed attending all of her children’s sporting activities.
She is survived by her four children, Richard W. and Donna of Chelmsford, Donald R. and Barbara George of Hampton, NH, Gaylene C. and Peter Suorsa of Amesbury, and Wendy M. and Douglas J. Wood, Jr. of Sandown, NH; her grandchildren, Kelly L. Main, Kelsa M. and Reid McLaughlin, Kara M. and Ryan B. Glad, Sage Suorsa and Brad Parker, Graham M. and Carrie Suorsa, Maari M. Suorsa, Taylor and Brooke Smith, Landon, Brienna and Larissa Smith, Kelly Melvin and Melissa Jones. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren and enjoyed Face Time with them. In addition to her husband and her parents, Marion was predeceased by four siblings and her great-grandson, Ryan B. Glad, Jr.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Saturday, February 15, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial Services will be held at Main Street Congregational Church, 145 Main Street, Amesbury on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at 2 p.m. Interment in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Amesbury will be private for the family.
