North Andover, MA — William D. Blackstock, 74, a resident of North Andover, MA, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family.
Born February 7, 1940 in Lawrence to the late Frederic E. and Mary (Riley) Blackstock, Bill was also the adopted son of the late Eva (LaFrance) Blackstock.
He attended the North Andover Schools and was a 1957 graduate of North Andover High School. Bill served in the United States Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He studied at Huntington Prep before entering a lifelong career in the printing trades. Bill was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He also enjoyed playing Golf with his friends.
Members of Bill's family include his wife of 50 years, Gilda A. (Nardi) Blackstock; a daughter, Patricia Blackstock of North Andover, MA; a son, William Blackstock and his wife, Michelle, of Haverhill, MA; a grandson, Patrick Blackstock; as well as several nieces, 1 nephew, 1 aunt, and several cousins. Bill was predeceased by his 2 children, Ellen and David Blackstock; his grandson, David Robert Blackstock and his half brother, F. Earle Blackstock.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 16, 2014, from 3 to 6 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 17, 2014, at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 196 Main St., North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, also in North Andover, MA.
