John S. Wezesa

Haverhill — John S. Wezesa, 83, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at the Penacook Place Nursing Home.

He was born in Haverhill on May 27, 1930, son of the late Stanley and Anna (Adamczyk) Wezesa. John resided in Haverhill all his life. John attended Tilton Grammar School and the Haverhill Trade School. Before his retirement from Raytheon in 1995, he worked for nearly 40 years in the Haverhill shoe industry which included Brown Counter, Merker Shoe and Engel-Lewis. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War, stationed in Germany from 1952 to 1954.

He was a member of St. Rita’s Parish for many years. John was an avid Red Sox fan. In his younger days, he was well known locally for his “pitching arm.”

John was a very easy going and caring man, putting family and friends before himself. He enjoyed being around his family and pet cat while appreciating the simple things in life.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Teresa J. (Germinara) Wezesa of Haverhill; sons, John F. Wezesa and his wife, Stacia, of Haverhill and Michael Wezesa and his wife, Laurie, of Kingston, NH; sisters, Mary Dollen of Merrimac and Helen Mullen of Chula Vista, CA; five caring grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Jackson, Cole and Ava Wezesa; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Benjamin Wezesa. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Leonard “Link” Wezesa.

The Wezesa family would like to thank the staff of Penacook Place for the tremendous care that John received.
