Methuen, MA — Milton Lebowitz, 77, of Methuen, Mass., passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014. He was born in Methuen, Mass., and was the son of the late Max and Bessie Lebowitz. Milton was educated in Methuen schools, and graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst. He attended Boston College Law School. He also earned an master's degree in education at Salem State College.
For many years, he taught at Lawrence and Methuen High Schools, where he was a beloved teacher, counselor and mentor to generations of students.
He was distinguished by his caring, wise counsel, delivered with his trademark wit.
Milton was the brother of the late Barbara Safran, of Andover, Mass.
Milton is survived by his brothers, Walter B. Lebowitz formerly of Andover, and now of Israel, and S. Jason Lebowitz of Andover.
He was cherished by his nieces and nephews, Lee, Scott, Pam, Sharon, Howard, James, and Craig Lebowitz, Marci Labell, Neil Safran, Margery Waldman; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
A graveside service is planned at 3 p.m., on Sunday, February 16, at the Montefiore Cemetery, 46 Pulpit Rock Rd., Pelham, N.H.
Condolences may be offered at the home of the deceased, 67 Christopher Drive, Methuen, after the service, and on Monday, February 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
