Lorene M. Tirone, 62

Lawrence — Lorene M. (Erban) Tirone, 62, of Lawrence passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Massachusetts General Hospital. Lorene was born in Millbury, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Charles K. and Josephine (LaChiusa) Erban.

Often referred to as "Mama T," Lorene lived her life to help others. Her passion was enriching the lives of children as evidenced by her 35-year career as a teacher in the Medford Public School System. She was especially passionate about childhood literacy and spent the last years of her career as a Title 1 specialist. In her spare time, she loved cooking, sewing, and of course, yard work. She was the life of every party and could always be counted on for her witty comebacks, or comedic prose. She was an incredibly devoted wife, mother, sister, cousin, teacher, and friend. Nothing brought her more joy in life then her granddaughter, Riley.

Lorene is survived by her husband of 36 years, Dan Tirone of Lawrence; her daughters, Danielle M. Winter and her husband, Robert, of Rockland, Mass., and Brianna Tirone of Lawrence; and her granddaughter Riley Winter of Rockland; her siblings, Craig K. Erban and his wife, Mary, of Shirley, Mass., Gerald Erban and his wife, Barbara, of Orlando, Fla., Marian Reitano of Pickerington, Ohio, and Charles Erban and his wife, Pearl, of Andover; and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours, on Wednesday, February 19, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, February 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Lucy’s Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to fund scholarships in her name to Medford Public Schools, c/o Diane Caldwell, 489 Winthrop Street, Medford, MA 02155.
