Salem, NH — David M. Ringland Sr., 77, of Salem, N.H., formerly of Haverhill and Groveland, died suddenly on Friday, February 14, at his home.
Born in Woburn, he was the son of the late, William A. and Audrey C. (Campbell) Ringland. Raised and educated in Medford, he attended Medford Public Schools and was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1953. Upon graduation, Mr. Ringland enlisted into the U.S. Army. A Korean War Veteran, he was honorably discharged in 1955.
Mr. Ringland began his career as an insurance salesman, and then became a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office. He spent most of his career delivering mail in Wakefield. An avid sports fan, he spent many years as a referee for local softball and hockey leagues.
The widower of Janine I. (Gendreau) who died in 2011, he leaves his sons, David M. Ringland Jr. and his wife, Anna (Ferrier) of Claremont, Fla., Scott W. Ringland and his wife, Mary Beth (Horan) of Methuen, and Brian J. Ringland and his wife, Elizabeth, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Michelle M. Dalton and her husband, David, of Derry, N.H.; six grandchildren, Lauren, Brandon, Bethany, Brent, and Stephanie Ringland, and Katherine Dalton; a brother, William Ringland of Florida; three sisters, Audrey Ross of West Newton, Wilma Ringland of Medford, and Linda Thurlow of Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Ringland.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Route 125, Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, at 10 a.m., in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hilldale Ave. Haverhill.
