Tilton, NH — Donald E. Howarth, 91, died on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at The New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, N.H. Mr. Howarth was born in Methuen on September 13, 1922, to Edward Howarth and Theresa (Lavery) Howarth. Don was one of five children. He was educated in Methuen schools and art school in Boston. He owned and operated D&H Mannequins of Methuen. He served with The U.S. Army during WWII with the 101st Airborne and was in the Battle of The Bulge. Don was a member of John Hancock Lodge, AF&AM, Methuen. He was a member of Bektash Temple, Concord, N.H., Bektash Clown Unit, Mt. Zion Princes of Jerusalem, The Consistory of Boston, member and past president of The Salem Shrine Club, and a member of The Royal Order of Jesters Court #137, and was a member of The VFW Post 8349.
The widower of Hazel Howarth and Ellen Howarth, his family members include his son, Donald W. and his wife, Terrie Howarth of Denver, Colo., and his daughter, Deborah Cardone of Parsonsfield, ME. He leaves his stepchildren, Lori Robinson of Livonia, Mich., David Robinson of Lebanon, Ore., Gary Robinson of Raymond, N.H., and Jane and her husband, Richard Anzalone of Raymond. Don also leaves his grandchildren, Nathan, Daniel, Alison and Candice. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Richard Cardone.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, February 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Officers and members of John Hancock Lodge, AF&AM will conduct Masonic services at 12 p.m., on Thursday, at the funeral home.
