Falmouth, MA — Darlene McConaghy Johnson of Falmouth, MA and Richmond, VA passed away on November 11, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. She is survived by Charles her loving husband of 30 years.
Darlene, 55 years old, grew up in North Andover, a graduate of Emmanuel College in Boston, with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She received her Master’s degree in Urban Policies and Sciences from Stony Brook University in New York. She interned for the Board of Selectman in Falmouth where she met her husband, Charles. She held several management positions in the New York City Transit Authority. Darlene was passionate and active in numerous volunteer and civic organizations in the United States and Canada. Darlene was Vice President of "Voices of September 11th" where she facilitated numerous programs and workshops to support 9/11 families, rescue workers, and survivors.
In addition to her husband, Darlene is survived by her son, Charles of Charlestown, son, Andrew and daughter, Emily, students at the University of Virginia; mother, Adele Dolan McConaghy and father, Daniel McConaghy of Falmouth; sister, Rita McConaghy DiSalvo and her husband, Theodore, of Boca Raton, FL; brother, Daniel McConaghy and his wife, Lori, of Singapore and mother-in-law, Sandra Johnson of Hollis, NH and Falmouth.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Darlene’s memory to the University of Virginia for the Darlene M. Johnson Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 400807, Charlottesville, VA 22904.

ARRANGEMENTS: A burial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 17th at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 E. Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth, MA followed by a reception.
