Helen (Uzuck) Pazzanese passed away peacefully April 9, 2012 at Merrimack Valley Hospice surrounded by her loving family. She was 97 years old.
Helen was born in Haverhill, MA on June 3rd, 1914. She was the daughter and oldest child of Pavel “Paul” and Yefrostina “Frances” (Vacha) Uzuck, a Russian couple who met and fell in love on the ship as they journeyed to America. She spent her early childhood years living in Lincoln, NH and then lived in Amesbury, MA during her teenage years where she attended Amesbury High School. Helen “Music” (as her friends called her) loved to sing and dance and it was at a Salisbury Beach dance hall where she met her husband, the late Arthur G. Pazzanese. Arthur and Helen resided in Haverhill, raised six children, and were married for 40 years before Arthur was taken home. Helen was a loving mother who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, especially the Italian dishes that she learned how to make from her mother-in-law. Helen, or “Nana”, as the kids called her, also worked as a lunch monitor for 30 years in the Haverhill School system at Bartlett and Tilton Schools. Helen devoted her whole life to her family and loved spending time with them on sunny days at Salisbury Beach and going to birthday parties.
Helen is survived by four children, Suzanne Bartolo of Haverhill, Arthur “Sonny” Pazzanese and his wife Susan of Haverhill, Donna O’Brien of Haverhill and Kathleen Richardson and her husband, Peter Richardson of Haverhill. She is also survived by her sister, Sentla Zeidman of Amesbury, MA, fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her late husband, Arthur G. Pazzanese and two children, the late Paul W. Pazzanese and the late Maria (Pazzanese) Page. She is also predeceased by two sisters, the late Ludia (Uzuck) Mahoney and the late Olga (Uzuck) Shapiro, as well as two grandchildren, the late Michael Fasulo and the late Steven Pazzanese.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral on Saturday, April 14th at 9:00 from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 at All Saints Church, Bellevue Ave, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill. Calling hours at the Funeral Home will be Friday evening from 5-8 pm.
