Andover, MA — Herbert H. Krauss, 93, of Andover, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2013, at The Wingate of Andover. Mr. Krauss was born in Lawrence, Mass., to the late Rudolph and Amelia Krauss. Herb was raised and educated in Lawrence and graduated with his class from Lawrence High School in 1937. Herb served his country proudly during WWII with the U.S. Air Force in Italy and attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. Upon returning from the service, he became a banker and worked in Lawrence and Boston until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Krauss was a dedicated member of the United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon as well as on the church board. Herb was also a Director of the German Home in Lawrence. During his spare time, Mr. Krauss loved traveling and being outdoors as well as reading and photography.
Herb was the beloved husband of the late Mildred (Teague) Krauss and will be missed dearly by his daughter, Lynn Cartwright of Litchfield, N.H., and his granddaughter, Christi and her husband Gustavo of Andover and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his Funeral Service on Monday, September 30th, at 10:00 AM in the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street, Andover. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM in the funeral home.
