Haverhill — Frances Vega, 92, passed away on October 1, 2013, at Holy Family Hospital.
Frances was born Francisca Vargas on January 29, 1924, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Frances was known to all as "Paqui."
Paqui moved to New York City in 1930, with her parents, Santiago and Antonia, and her brother and sister. After graduating high school, she married Robert Vega in June of 1944. She and Robert moved to Methuen, Mass., in 1998. They were married 64 years.
Paqui brought light to the lives of those who knew her.
She is survived by sons, Robert Vega and his wife, Gina, of Windham, N.H., and Ronald Vega and his wife, Deborah, of Baltimore, Md.; sister, Bette Byers of Baltimore; her three grandchildren, Rachel Vega, Alexis Vega-Singer and Antonia Vega; and two great-grandchildren, Miriam and Mordechai Singer.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Service on Monday, October 7, at 10 a.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer Street, Haverhill. Interment will follow on Monday, at 2 p.m., at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. Shiva will be at her son, Robert’s home.
