Salem, NH, formerly of Lawrence and Methuen — Ellsworth W. Brown, 73, of Salem, NH, formerly of Lawrence and Methuen, passed away unexpectedly on Monday at his home in Salem, NH. He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Claude and Alberta (Kennedy) Brown.
Ellsworth was raised and educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He was a retired Technical Tester for Lucent where he had worked for 25 years.
He was a member of the US Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam Era. He was 1st Clarinet in the Marine Corp Band, most notably at Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the Marine Corp League, Gilman E. Sleeper Camp 60 Sons of the Union Veterans of Civil War where he served as Past Department Commander; Ernest Young Post 63 American Legion of Salem, NH, Friends of the Hunley and Friends of General Butler. He was an accomplished pianist and musician and an avid Civil War Reenacter and loved to share his knowledge of the Civil War with the public at living histories.
He was predeceased by his brothers, William, Claude, Harold and Granville Brown and is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Cynthia (Conley) Brown of Salem, NH; his step-children, Pastor Edward Cullen, David Cullen, Sheilah Judge, Robert Cullen, Mary Flynn, Cathleen Rosa and their families. He also leaves his sister, Pauline Hamilton and her husband, Robert, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, October 12, 2013, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will follow the conclusion of visiting hours at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Private burial will be held at a later date.
