Barbara J. Lariviere, 80

Methuen, MA — Barbara J. (Weisenborn) Lariviere, 80, of Methuen, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away Tuesday April 9, 2013, at Lawrence General Hospital. Barbara was born in Sac City, Iowa; she was the daughter of the late Louis and Calla (Blagdon) Weisenborn.

At the age of nine, she moved to Portland, Maine, and eventually to Methuen, Mass., where she attended and graduated from the Edward F Searles High School. She was employed at Wang Laboratories in Tewksbury, and Lowell, Mass., for more than 15 years as a quality control inspector. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Joseph Lariviere, as well as a loving mother, whose greatest joy was to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and other family and friends. She was also a devout Catholic and was actively involved with the Franciscan order at Saint Basil's in Methuen. She fulfilled her life-long dream to see the birthplace and body of Saint Bernadette Soubirous, by embarking on a religious pilgrimage that included visits to Lourdes, and the Marion Shrine at Nevers (Bourgogne), France, as well as Assisi, the Vatican, and Rome, Italy. Her other interests included a deep love of music, and musicals, movies, poetry, bingo, and the Olympics, attending the Olympic Games in Lake Placid, NY. She loved swimming, as well as whale watching excursions out of Gloucester, Mass., which she enjoyed with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, sons, Keith P. Lariviere and his wife, Frances, of Lawrence, Kevin J. Lariviere and his wife, Judy, of Sandown, N.H., John R. Lariviere, of Tyngsboro, and James M. Lariviere, of Salem, N.H., her daughters, Karen A. Krekorian and her husband, Gregory, of Methuen, Cathleen M. Lariviere and David Fucci, of Campbell, Calif., and Michelle Lariviere and Thomas Lord, of Hudson, N.H., She also leaves her 11 loving grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and her sister Anne Sarcione, of Merideth, N.H., and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene Weisenborn, Roy Weisenborn, and sisters, Margie Stewart, and Janice Lynch.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends will be received at visiting hours on Tuesday April 16, 2013, from 4to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday April 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, 22 Plymouth St., Methuen. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Methuen.
