Thomas L. Lucas, 90

Methuen — Thomas L. Lucas, 90, a 65-year resident of Methuen, died peacefully Friday at his home with his loving family by his side.

Tom was born in Lawrence, the son of Joseph and Addie Lucas. For many years he was a restaurateur in Lawrence and owned Lucas Café.

He was a Communicant of Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen, past president of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lawrence, and was active in the Lawrence YMCA for many years.

During World War II, Tom was a Torpedo bomber pilot in the United States Navy and received the American Theatre Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific and World War II Victory medals before being honorably discharged. Tom was an avid outdoorsman loved sking, hunting, golfing and tennis. After the age of 60, Tom was a two-time runner in the Boston Marathon.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Eileen R. (Gibadlo) Lucas; his son, Thomas and his wife, Natalie Donahue, of North Andover; his daughter, Barbara DeLutis of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Tracy, Amy, and Christopher; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. in Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen.
