Lake Worth, Fla. — Maria Josefina Caruso, 76, of Lake Worth, Fla., formely of Lawrence, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Maria was born on August 20, 1936, in Los Teques, Venezuela. She was the eldest of eight children born to Emilio and Aurelia Mercado. Maria and her husband emigrated to the United States in 1964.
She was employed as a seamstress at Greico Brothers for many years. Maria enjoyed traveling to Italy, Venezuela, and New England, to visit her friends and family. Maria's happiest moments were those spent with her children, grandchildren, and great child. Maria had a love for cooking and making everyone laugh.
Maria was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Concetto Caruso; sons, John Caruso of Lake Worth, Fla., Enrico Caruso of Haverhill; daughter, Irene Silveira; son-in-law, Thomas Silveira of Lake Worth, Fla.; grandchildren, Sarah and her husband, John Braswell, Christina Caruso, Jarid and Miranda Silveira, and great- granddaughter, Brook Caruso White, all of Lake Worth.
Maria was truly an inspiration to all who knew her. Her wisdom and kind heart will be missed dearly by all.
