California — Our beloved mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2013, surrounded by her family.
JoAnn was born October 16, 1923, in Lawrence, Mass. In 1943, she married the love of her life, Angelo Carminito, and moved to the bay area where they raised nine children.
She was an avid hairstylist for many years but her passion and dedication was to her husband and large family. Her love for them was immeasurable.
JoAnn enjoyed hosting big Italian parties with relatives and friends on holidays and started many family traditions with her famous Italian cooking. Everything was made from scratch, picked from her beloved garden. She unconditionally welcomed everyone into her home with warm hugs, a big smile and lots of love. Her home was always filled with children who were drawn to her contagious spirit, laughter and great cooking. She was dedicated to the Lord, a prayer warrior and was involved in her church for many years.
She loved to dance and was always the first one on the floor rocking to the music.
JoAnn had an amazing zest for life, young at heart, a computer whiz, enjoyed technology, Facebook and texting everyone. The grandkids nicknamed her “Groovy Gramma.”
JoAnn is preceded in death by her adored husband, Angelo Carminito; precious daughter, Rosalind Daley; and granddaughter, baby Marie Daley.
JoAnn will be greatly missed by her eight children, Linda Kellogg, Jim Carminito, Joni Carminito, David Carminito, Theresa Sorich, Dee Dee Nollenberger, Annette Heredia, Marie Roark; sons-in-law and daughters-in-law; sixteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Ballantyne, Rose Jones; and brother, Fred Torrisi; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. She will forever be in our hearts.
Private services have been held.
