Goffstown, NH — Lionel J. Gendron, 77, of Goffstown, N.H., died on Thursday, July 4, at Ridgewood Center in Bedford, following a long illness.
He was born on September 25, 1935, in Lyster, Quebec, Canada, and was the son of the late Paul and Regina (Gagne) Gendron. He was raised and educated in Canada. Mr. Gendron moved to the States in 1960.
Most recently, he worked in construction for Brooks Construction.
Lionel loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing cards and being a jokester.
Surviving family members include his wife of 50 years, Joan (Guilmette) Gendron of Goffstown; three sons, Lionel P. Gendron and his wife, Rosita of Londonderry, Mike Gendron and his wife, Nancy of Derry, and Steven Gendron and his wife Jessica, of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Erica, Ariel, Jake, Lionel Jr., Matthew, Samantha, and Autumn Gendron; three brothers, Robert Gendron of Warwick, PQ Quebec, Alfred Gendron and his wife, Gisele of Salem, N.H., and Roland Gendron and his wife, Anita of Plessisville, PQ Quebec; two sisters, Yolande Mercier and her husband, Julien of Leeds, PQ Quebec, and Armande Soucy and her husband, Marc of St. Bernard, PQ Quebec; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Fernande Bilodeau.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Gendron’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Ste. 2, Norwood, MA 02062, or to The Ridgewood Center, Attn: Niki Moore - Activities Director, 25 Ridgewood Dr., Bedford, NH 03110, for the Resident Council Fund.
