Methuen, MA — Dorothy L. (Chute) Archambault, 83, widow of Warren A. Archambault, former Safety Officer for the Town of Methuen, passed away peacefully December 31, 2013.
Dorothy was born in Methuen on February 16, 1930, and remained a lifelong resident of the town.
She graduated from the Edward Searles High School with the class of 1948, and later graduated from Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, MA, in 1951. Dorothy then passed her State Boards in 1951 to become a registered nurse. After graduation, she worked at the Lawrence General Hospital for most of her career. She also worked at the Cooley-Dickenson Hospital in Northampton, MA, North Adams Hospital in No. Adams, MA, St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY, and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, MA. At the end of her career, she worked in local nursing homes until her retirement in June 1996.
She was a lifelong member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church where she was a former choir member and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the American Nurses Association & the Faulkner Hospital Alumni Association. She was also a member of the Pilgrim chapter #55, Nashua, NH.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark W. and his wife, Karen, of Manchester, NH, and Todd J. and his wife, Alice, of Derry, NH; four grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Olivia, of Manchester, NH, Jeffery of Laconia, NH, and James and Nicole of Derry, NH; five great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Elijah, Aiden, Lacey and Conner, all of Manchester, NH. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Ruth Simoes, and lifelong friend, Bill Waites of Salem, NH.
She was predeceased by her son, Dana W. Archambault.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and loved ones are invited to call on Friday, January 3, from 4-7 p.m. at the Charles Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday, January 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
Memorial contributions, in Dorothy’s name, may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 90 Broadway, Methuen.
