Ruth M. Atherton, 68

Lawrence — Ruth M. (Witzel) Atherton, 68, of Lawrence, died Thursday at her residence.

Ruth was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on December 3, 1944, to the late Norman and Romana (Hoerbelt) Witzel.

She was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary's High School in New York and Trinity College in Washington, D.C. Ruth was employed as a teacher at the Storrow School until her retirement.

Ruth is survived by her husband, David Atherton of Lawrence; her sister, Rita Overbey of Williamstown, N.Y.; as well as nieces and nephews, James Overbey, Michael Overbey, Karen Mugavaro, Roberta Kingsley-Boynton, Deacon Jeffrey J. Kingsley, Timothy Kingsley and Brian Kingsley. Ruth is also survived by several cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church North Andover. Burial will take place at a later date.

Family and friends may call on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover.
