Claire R. Michaud, 79

Methuen — Claire R. (Gauthier) Michaud, 79, of Methuen, passed away at Holy Family Hospital on Friday, August 2, 2013.

Born and educated in Lowell, Mass., she was the daughter of George and Dora (Martin) Gauthier. She graduated from St. Joseph High School for Girls and also Lowell Commercial College. Claire was employed at the Currier Citizen, and for 19 years was a tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, retiring in 1995.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Theresa’s Church in Methuen and was also a Eucharistic Minister.

She leaves her husband of 57 years, Chanel F. Michaud, of Methuen. She is survived by her children, David C. Michaud and his wife, Nancy, of Methuen, and Claire Marie of Torrington, Conn.; one brother, Rene Gauthier and his wife, Simone, of Lowell; grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Rakowski, Melissa Balke, Christopher and Cynthia Michaud, Cameron and Patrick Smith, and Samuel and Sage Lavoie; great-grandchildren, Brandon Triplett and Lillian Rakowski-Emerson; and several nieces and nephews.

Claire was the mother of the late Judith C. Reynolds, Carole Michaud, Diane R. Smith, and Paul G. Michaud.

ARRANGEMENTS: Memorials may be made to the Natonal Marfan Foundation, 22 Manhasset Ave., Port Washington, NY 11050. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Sunday, today, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, at 11 a.m., in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/St. Theresa’s Church in Methuen, with burial to follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
