Ronald F. Comeau, 71

Haverhill — Ronald F. Comeau, 71, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Lawrence General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, J. Harold Comeau and Grace A. (Paris). He attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School, and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1960.

Mr. Comeau had a long and varied career. He began at a young age working in the shoe industry in Haverhill. He soon left manufacturing and became an entrepreneur. Having an auto body background from trade school, he went to work for Marble Motors in Lafayette Square, and then opened his first auto body shop, R & R Auto Body in Haverhill. Expanding his business, he became Broadway Motors, and later moving to Plaistow, he owned and managed Plaistow Subaru. A man of many talents and looking for new challenges, he left the car business and became a general contractor. For many years he built and remodeled homes throughout the area known as Timeless Construction.

Ronnie lived the ethic, “work hard, play hard,” and that he did with a zest and zeal for life. A licensed pilot, he owned a plane and flew into and out of Dutton’s Airport. He also loved the water and relaxed on his boat whenever he could. Having a vivacious personality, to know him was to love him. He had a gifted voice and could sing, and was a great dancer. A night at “The Resort” would last into the late evening with karaoke and dance. His joy was being surrounded by his loving family every weekend.

As a Freemason, Ronald was very active in his local Merrimack Lodge and Haverhill Commandery in Haverhill for over 30 years.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey F. Comeau of Haverhill, and Russell J. Comeau and his wife, Kimberly, of Plaistow; a daughter, Wendy A. Card and her husband, Scott, also of Haverhill; three cherished grandchildren, Heather St. Pierre, and Nicholas and Jacob Card, two step-grandchildren, Kyle Andreoli and Josh Andreoli; two brothers, Richard H. and his wife, Rose, of Haverhill, Robert N. and his wife, Deborah, of North Conway, N.H.; two sisters, Norma G. Wildes, of Haverhill, and Janice M. Gulubicki and her husband, Albert, of Atkinson, N.H.; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, George Manakas, of Haverhill.
