Rose Abou-Farah, 72, of Salem, N.H., passed away at Lawrence General Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Monday March 24, 2014. Rose was born and educated in Djourbel, Senegal, and was the daughter of the late Elias Hajjar and his wife, Chafica (Haddad) Hajjar.
Rose married her late husband, Jadallah N. Abou-Farah, in Senegal, and there they raised two sons. In 1979, the family moved to Greater Lawrence and became parishioners of St. Joseph Melkite Church in Lawrence. Rose enjoyed travel, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was an active member of Grace Assembly of God Church on Zion Hill, Salem, N.H.
The widow of Jadallah N. Abou-Farah, she is survived by sons, Andre J. Abou-Farah and his wife, Kathleen A. (Finocchiaro) Farah and their children, Michael and Elizabeth, and Roger A. Farah and his wife, Juanita (Rosa) Farah and their children, Miguel and Damary; one sister, Hayat Abou-Samra of Lebanon; brothers, Bassam Hajjar of Paris, France, Souheil Hajjar of Guinea, Central Africa, Camille Hajjar of Brussels, Belgium, and Samir Hajjar of Florida; brothers-in-law, Sadallah “Sid” Farah of Salem, N.H., Haykel “Mike” Farah of Methuen, and Ibrahim Taboucherani of Dakar, Senegal; and sister-in-law, Nouad Dirani and her three children. Rose is also survived by her late sister-in-law Margaret Erban along with numerous nephews and nieces.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, March 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Farrah Funeral Home, 133 Lawrence St., Lawrence, MA. A funeral service will be held on Friday March 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Melkite Church, 241 Hampshire St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at United Lebanese Charitable Society Cemetery in Lawrence.
