Lawrence, MA — Roland "Tiger" Laverriere, 88, of Lawrence, Mass., passed away peacefully at Merrimack Valley Hospice in Haverhill Monday, June 3, 2013, after a brief illness.
He was born in Lawrence, Mass., on Aug. 23, 1924, the son of Frank and Alice (Parent) Laverriere. He attended Lawrence schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
One of Tiger’s fondest memories was being flagman for Pres. Roosevelt’s plane to land on his ship.
He worked at Watts Regulator for many years and more recently was custodian at St. Anthony Maronite Church in Lawrence.
Tiger gave a lot to his community including running bingo for St. Mary’s Parish for many years.
Tiger loved everybody, especially children, and was very generous to everyone he came in contact with.
He was an avid Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins fan, and most recently, became interested in watching golf. He also loved taking trips to Hampton and Salisbury beaches.
Family members include one son, Tom Laverriere and his wife, Jacky, of Manchester, N.H.; a daughter, Ellen Little and her husband, Robert, of Salem, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Allison Williams and her husband, Fred, of Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Lance, Amanda and Derek Laverriere, Sherry Latham, Jasmine, Jordan and Joshua Williams; and six great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicholas Laverriere, Hannah, Isaiah, Abigail and Matthias Latham; two brothers, George Laverriere and Philip Laverriere Sr., and his wife, Mickey; and a sister, Marion Leriche. He is also survived by nieces, Maureen Laplume, Fran Landry, and Pat Rodewald, and many other nieces and nephews, and his long-time friends, Louie DiGiacomo and Marie Coletta. He was predeceased by his wives, Dorothy Savory and Lydia Williams, and a sister, Mabel Packard.

Peter Azar at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence, Mass., on Wednesday evening, June 12, 2013 at 6 p.m. Following the Mass, there will be an opportunity to share your ‘Tiger’ memories. Please bring them with you.
Burial will take place Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Maronite Cemetery on Route 113 in Methuen.
