John F. Dodier, 82


Merrimac, MA. — John F. Dodier, a longtime Merrimac resident, passed away on Friday at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill with his loving family at his side. He was born in Haverhill, MA. and was the son of the late Gedeon and Grace (St. Cyr) Dodier. He was the husband of 56 years to Lorraine M. (Fredette) Dodier.

He grew up in Haverhill, attending St. Joseph's Grammar School and high school at Haverhill Trade, graduating in 1949. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He returned home and became an upholsterer and opened his own business known as American Upholstery. He also had worked for Brentwood Furniture. He was an active person and loved dancing, walking, and bowling with the Senior Citizens bowling League. He also loved reading and playing cards.

Besides his wife Lorraine, he is survived by one son, David Dodier of Merrimac, MA., one daughter, Janice Estabrook of Somersworth, NH., one brother, Walter Dodier, one sister, Gertrude Clayton both of Haverhill, one granddaughter, Melodie Estabrook and her husband Scott Dylla of Mountain View, CA. and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louis, George, and Alfred Dodier, Irene DeRusha, Elaine Millet, and Florence La Fontaine.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday April 4, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Holy Redeemer Church 4 Green St. in Merrimac, MA. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home 118 Friend St. in Amesbury, MA. are Wednesday April 3 from 4-7 pm.
