Frances Triventi


Chatham, Mass. — Mrs. Frances "Fran" Triventi (nee Fantini) of Chatham, passed away on March 5, 2013 after suffering a stroke. Fran was born on January 6, 1934 in Haverhill, daughter of the late, Alfred and Mildred (Zacharosky) Fantini.

After graduation from Haverhill High School, she went on to study teaching at Lowell State College. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, Fran began her teaching career at Knipe School in Ward Hill. She was married in 1959 to Mr. Francis (Frank) Triventi of Norwood. Fran and Frank met on Cape Cod in Chatham, honeymooned and eventually retired there, where they enjoyed many happy years.

After her marriage, Fran relocated with Frank to New Jersey and began teaching at Stillman School in Tenafly, N.J. in 1966. During her tenure, Fran acquired her masters degree from Montclair State University in 1970. She was a lifelong student always taking courses to enhance her career and broaden her knowledge. Prior to Fran's retirement in 1987, she was the 1986 recipient of the Governor's Excellence in Teaching Award, the precursor to today's New Jersey State Teacher of the Year Program.

She was a member of AAUW, American Association of University Women, Garden Club, various bridge and bible study groups. Rarely could you find her without a book in hand. Fran's early retirement allowed her and Frank to travel extensively. Friends old and new enriched her life.

Fran was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 2010. She leaves behind beloved family including her daughter, Marilyn (Lyn,) her husband, Kevin; and granddaughter, Lindsey Shrout of Upper Saddle River, N.J.; sister, Marilyn and her husband, Robert George of Bradford; her sister, Millie Battistini of Newburypor; and brother-in-law, Michael Triventi of East Walpole. She was the loving aunt of several nieces and nephews, Rick and Michele Battistini, Matthew Battistini and Diane Martinek, Risa and Daniel Harrington, Andria and Steven Kapp, Steven George, Frank and Sandra George, Paul and Joan Ciancarelli and Joey and Sue Ciancarelli; and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. It pleased Fran to know several went on to careers in teaching.
