The Villages, FL — Honorable Dr. John F. Markey, 88, of The Villages passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. Dr. Markey was born in Lawrence, Mass., and moved to The Villages from Boynton Beach, Fla., in 2008.
He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, practiced as a Chiropractor, served as Massachusetts Governor’s Councilor for Essex County, and was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was also a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood. He loved golf, politics, children and village squares of Spanish Springs and Sumter Landing in the evenings.
Survivors include his best friend and wife, Eileen, his son Jack and his wife, Nancy, grandson, Jonathan, granddaughter, Jennifer and great grandchildren, Megan, Gavin, Dakota, and Cameron.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Service for Dr. Markey will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the chapel at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 N. Hwy 27/441, Lady Lake. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
