Methuen — Teresa M. (Medlock) Fragala of Methuen passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover with her family at her side. She was born in Lowell and was the daughter of the late Franklin and Marie Medlock.
Teresa moved to Lawrence when she was 6 years old and was educated at St. Mary’s High School and received a certification in management and records from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After raising three children she worked in the payroll department at Pacific Mills, was assistant to the comptroller at Oomphies Shoes and worked in the payroll department at Raytheon. She retired in 1989 from her own business, Jeffrey’s Cafeteria at Genesys Software.
Teresa was heavily involved with the Lawrence Elks Lodge #65, joining the Lady Elks Auxiliary in 1979. She joined the Elks Lodge in 1998 when the Grand Lodge of Elks opened its membership to women. After 116 years of being led solely by male members, Teresa became the first female Exalted Ruler of the fraternal organization.
Her community involvement did not end at the Elks. She raised money for St. Mary’s High School, worked on the committee of the 150th anniversary of Lawrence and served as President of the Lawrence Council on Aging. She was honored for helping secure the funds for a new senior center.

Teresa was the loving wife of Joseph J. Fragala; cherished mother of Dennis A. Fragala and his wife Cathleen of Methuen, Joyce J. Drago and her husband Barry of Derry, NH and Justine J. Fragala of New Ipswich, NH and dear grandmother of Jeffrey, Nathan, Joseph and Kathleen M. Fragala and Matthew C. Drago. She was predeceased by her siblings Franklin Medlock and Ruth Audy.
