Methuen — Leon A. Coulon, passed away January 10, 2013 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family after a courageous year long battle with lung cancer.

Leon was an only child, born in Lawrence, to the parents of Edgar and Emily Coulon. He graduated Salutatorian from his 1954 class at Central Catholic High School. He went on to attend Northeastern University graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Coulon had a long career with Raytheon and retired in 1993. He served his country with the U.S. Army.

Leon was a tireless volunteer at St. Monica's school and parish. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul, a Eucharistic minister and a willing volunteer at the parish assisting with taking communion to local nursing homes and to others that were unable to attend mass. He was a Boy Scout leader and coached hockey. He enjoyed his many weekends at the family home in North Conway as well as his trips to Italy and Disney World with his grandchildren.

Leon leaves his wife Joan, the love of his life, whom he was married to for fifty-three years; his children, Mark Coulon of N.H., Leeann Mahoney and her husband. James of Methuen and Michelle Squatrito and her husband. Joseph of Methuen. Also leaving his grandchildren, Emily Schaalman (Greg), Nicole Coulon, Timothy Coulon and Joseph Leon Squatrito.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are kindly welcome to visitation on Sunday in the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, from 4 -8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, at 10 a.m. in St. Monica's Church, Methuen. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations in Leon's name to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence MA 01843.
