Salvatore Cataudella, 88

Utica, N.Y. — Salvatore “Sully” S. Cataudella, 88, of the Masonic Care Community, died on Monday, January 14, 2013.

He was born on July 8, 1924, in Lawrence, son of the late Sebastiano and Giuseppina Novello Cataudella. He graduated from Lawrence schools in 1943, and later continued his education and graduated from MacIntosh Business School. Sully served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He married Carmela D’Auria on August 4, 1946, in Lawrence. She died on October 17, 1989. He later married Bertha Coriale on January 1, 1995. Sully had a long and successful career with the Prudential Insurance Company and retired as the district manager in 1985 after 38 years of service.

Sully was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Utica, N.Y., where he served in many capacities. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #47 F&AM where he received the Distinguished Service Award. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering especially with St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital, Hospice and the Masonic Home. Sully was a very talented pianist and played regularly at many of the nursing homes in the area, especially the Masonic Home, for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Cataudella of New Hartford, N.Y.; his children, Sebastian Cataudella and his wife, Carol, of New Hartford, Joyce Moore and her husband, Robert, of Tampa, Fla., and Michael Cataudella and his wife, Lisa, of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Jonathan Moore and his wife, Victoria, of Tampa, Fla., Stacey Farrell and her husband, Brandon, of Tampa, Fla., David Cataudella and his wife, Kelly, of Naugatuck, Conn. and Kristyn Hammond and her husband, Daniel, of Whitesboro, N.Y.; his great grandchildren, Analina, Nathanael, Lillian Carmela, Morgan, Lauren, Micah, Jordyn and Kyle. Sully is also survived by four loving step-children and their families, Bonnie and Tom Figgatt, Paula Ryan, Arthur Coriale, and Jeff Coriale. He is also survived by his sister, Connie Caloggero of Newton; loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many loyal friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sloan, Dr. Culver, Dr Razia, Dr. Olteano and so many compassionate care-givers at Masonic Care Community, especially Sharon, Nicole, Annette and Tiffany, for all the loving care and comfort given to Sully during the past few months.

ARRANGEMENTS: The funeral will be on Friday at 10:30 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Utica. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. The Masonic Lodge will offer services at 8:00 at the conclusion of the calling hours.
