Salem, N.H. — Paul Watson, 53, of Salem, N.H., died peacefully with his wife by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Paul was born February 7,1959. The son of the late Louis and Kathleen (LeBlanc) Watson. Paul lived in Lynn, Mass. for four years before moving to North Salem.
Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Salem High School. He was trained in the electronic field as a fire control technician serving on the USS America and the USS Richard E. Byrd. During his professional career he was employed by Raytheon, FMI, Lucent Technologies and Draper Labs from 2004 to present.
In 2005, Paul was blessed when his daughter-in-law, Erica Hewitt, moved to Salem with Paul's granddaughter, Shelby. Paul was the happiest when spending time with Shelby, shopping, swimming, playing on the beach and watching her dance recitals. He was very proud of his grandson, Sy. They loved to spend time building with Legos.
Paul was an avid Patriots fan and season ticket holder since 1970. He enjoyed movies, playing guitar, listening to his vast music collection and photography.
He was a gentle man with a big heart. Paul was a generous man who cherished friendships from his past as well as the present. He loved to share stories that brightened the mornings of his co- workers. Paul and Val would like to thank Ralph "Sonny" Anderson for his support, dedication and friendship especially through Paul's illness.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Valerie, son Jonathan Owen, stepchildren Jenna Bennett of Derry, NH and her son Sy, Joseph Bennett, of Salem, NH, Kate Bennett and partner Lyndsey Splaine of Salem, MA.
The family would like to thank Lawrence General Hospital for their excellent care and the Hospice House in Haverhill, for giving Paul and his family dignity and respect.
ARRANGEMENTS: At the request of Paul, there are no formal services. Paul will be cremated with a private celebration of life this summer.
