Rev. Daniel J. Menihane, O.S.A.


Bryn Mawr, PA — Rev. Daniel J. Menihane, O.S.A. passed away on January 27, 2013. Father Dan was born April 1, 1932 in Lawrence, MA, son of the late Daniel S. and Mary T. (O'Leary) Menihane. Fr. Dan attended grade school at the Rollins School in Lawrence and went on to graduate from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1949. Following High School, he entered the Augustinian Seminary in Staten Island, N.Y. Fr. Dan was ordained in Rome on December 21, 1957.

Following Ordination, Fr. Dan was assigned to parishes in New York and Pennsylvania where he made many friends. During the many years that followed, Fr. Dan always found time to spend summer and Christmas vacations at home in Lawrence and Methuen with family and friends.

Father Dan leaves his brother John "Jake" Menihane and his wife Judith (Larmay) Menihane of Haverhill, his sister-in-law Mrs. Lillian Menihane, beloved wife of his late brother James Menihane of Methuen who died March 10, 2002, his cousin Joseph Menihane and his wife Jacqueline of Methuen, cousins Patrick O'Leary of Reading, MA, Sally Leahy and Mary DelPrete of Florida, Sheila Donovan of Malden, MA, Barbara Karnath of Buffalo, N.Y., and Mary Starkey of Virginia. He is also survived by family friends Joseph and Winifred Holloway of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., as well as 9 nieces and nephews, and 20 grandnieces and grandnephews. Uncle Fr. Dan was much loved by family and friends and will be sadly missed.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Augustinian lot at St. Mary's Cemetery, also in Lawrence. Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 10 to 11 A.M at the funeral home.
