Merrimac, MA — Herbert Collins Gynan, Jr., age 88, of Merrimac, WW II Veteran and beloved teacher, passed away early Saturday morning, November 3, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Haverhill, October 22, 1924, he was one of three children of the late Herbert C. and Willena (MacDonald) Gynan, and had attended Haverhill Trade School, graduating from Haverhill High School in 1943. After serving with the United States Navy during World War II, he continued his education by graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science and from Fitchburg State College in 1981 with a Master’s in Education.

Mr. Gynan was a dedicated teacher at the Greater Lawrence Vocational Technical School, where he taught welding and metal fabrication.

Herb was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who was always there to lend a helping hand with whatever needed to be done. His dedication to others will forever be remembered by all those who knew and loved him.

Predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Margaret (Buehler) Gynan, who passed away on September 16, 2012, he leaves behind his five children, Margaret “Midge” DellaCamera and husband Tony of Northford, CT; Herbert Gynan of Thornton, CO; Marian Gynan of Concord, NH; Marjorie Barry and husband Tom of Merrimac and Marcia White and husband David of Salisbury; his two grandsons, who meant the world to him, William DellaCamera of Northford, CT and Alex Barry of Merrimac; his sisters, Mary Haluposki and Lena DeCoff, both of Danvers, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Gynan Johnson, his grandson, David DellaCamera, and his brother-in-law, Tony Haluposki.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Redeemer Parish, 4 Green Street, Merrimac, followed by interment in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.

Charliene P. Moore, 67

Atkinson, NH — Charliene P. Moore died May 16, 2013, in Pleasant Valley, N.H., after a long illness from cancer. She was born in Cambridge, Mass., on Aug. 16, 1945, daughter of the late Pearl and Charles Moore. She grew up in Everett, Mass., and graduated from Malden High. Charliene worked at the IRS for 20 years and for Securitas Services where her security assignments included stints at Sweetheart Plastics, Hewlitt Packard and Global Insights. She fought a long, hard battle with cancer and through it all loved her co-workers and friends. Charliene is survived by her longtime companion, Linda McAdams of Atkinson, N.H., and “Mac,” her furry little friend. Special thanks for the love and support given by the Nursing Staff from the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home and the Compassionate Hospice Care, where memorial donations may be sent in lieu of flowers to 25 Nashua Road #3, Londonderry, NH 03053.
