Haverhill — Rita A. Dudley, 82, entered into heaven on November 5, 2012, and was greeted by her sisters, Frances Guy, Marion Dion, and brother, Ralph Dudley, Jr.
Born in Boston on March 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ida E. (Noonan) Dudley, and known as the family’s “angel child”, as she was not expected to live after childbirth.
Rita was educated in Chelsea, and in 1945 her family moved to Merrimac to enjoy country living. During this time she enjoyed riding her bike, and on Sundays rode to church.
As an adult Rita was caregiver to her mother until she passed away; then she lived with her sister, Marion, and brother-in-law Donald in Groveland, later moving to Merrivista where she lived for the first time on her own. Rita loved animals, devoting her love and attention to her cat, Bingo. While at Merrivista she made many friends, never missed a bingo game and enjoyed the holidays, dressing in theme costumes for many parties. Strong-willed, Rita loved being affectionately called “a brat”. She had a wonderful laugh, radiating smile and great sense of humor.
Rita will be forever missed by her sister, Helen King of Central City, NB; many nieces and nephews including her caregiver, Pat Powell, husband Eric, and Jeannie Comei, both of Groveland. She also leaves her loving aide, Sheary Adams, whom she considered a daughter from her heart.
