Newburyport — Frederick A. “Fred” Battistini, Sr., 89, a prominent and respected Haverhill businessman, passed away on November 9, 2012 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the husband of Mildred “Millie” (Fantini) Battistini with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage in August.

Born in Haverhill on May 26, 1923, Fred was the son of the late Mario “Matt” and Clementina S. (Bagni) Battistini.

A graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1941, Fred was captain of the track team, and played varsity football. He continued his education at St. Anselm’s College until he left to join the US Navy. In anticipation of being stationed on the USS Oriskany was a flight mechanic, and taught recruits to swim. Upon his discharge Fred returned to college where he was president of his class, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Following his graduation he joined his father at Haverhill TV & Appliance to begin a career that spanned 63 years. He was very civic minded and contributed much to the success of the City of Haverhill. Fred was a member of the Haverhill Rotary Club for 48 years, Past President, Song Leader for 25 years, was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by the club in 1984, and recognized for his perfect attendance. Fred was active with the YMCA where he served as a member of the Board of Directors, and was an original member of Rudy’s Tigers. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Bradford Swim Club, board member of the former Haverhill Italian American Credit Union, and was a Chadwick Runner. Fred was proud to hold the third TV technician license issued by the state.

Fred was devoted to his wife and family and cherished the opportunity to gather as a family for forty years at their summer home at Seabrook Beach.

Besides his wife, Mille, he is survived by his children, Frederick A. “Rick” Battistini, Jr. and wife Michele of Tewksbury, Risa Harrington and husband Daniel of Newburyport, Matthew “Matt” Battistini and Diane Martinec of Seabrook Beach, Andria Kapp and husband Steven of Newburyport; grandchildren, Risa Kapp, Adam Frederick Kapp and Nina Harrington, all of Newburyport; sister, Rita Battistine of New York City, and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. The funeral and interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport on Wednesday will be private. Charliene P. Moore, 67

Atkinson, NH — Charliene P. Moore died May 16, 2013, in Pleasant Valley, N.H., after a long illness from cancer. She was born in Cambridge, Mass., on Aug. 16, 1945, daughter of the late Pearl and Charles Moore. She grew up in Everett, Mass., and graduated from Malden High. Charliene worked at the IRS for 20 years and for Securitas Services where her security assignments included stints at Sweetheart Plastics, Hewlitt Packard and Global Insights. She fought a long, hard battle with cancer and through it all loved her co-workers and friends. Charliene is survived by her longtime companion, Linda McAdams of Atkinson, N.H., and “Mac,” her furry little friend. Special thanks for the love and support given by the Nursing Staff from the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home and the Compassionate Hospice Care, where memorial donations may be sent in lieu of flowers to 25 Nashua Road #3, Londonderry, NH 03053.
