Asa A. Beckwith, Sr., 83

Haverhill — Asa A. Beckwith, Sr., 83, of Haverhill, died Friday, November 9, at his residence.

He was born in Livonia, NY, April 12, 1929 son of the late Avery and Bernadine (Cisco) Beckwith and graduated from Naples Central High School, Naples, NY. He later earned his Engineering Degree from the Boston Naval Shipyard.

During the Korean War he served in the United States Navy.

He was employed at the Ford Motor Co. So. Boston Annex, Portsmouth and Boston Naval Shipyards and also owned and operated a taxi company in Chelsea.

Mr. Beckwith moved to Georgetown in 1961 where he owned Ace Taxi. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 147, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 4, Order of the Moose, Knights of Columbus, and Crescent Yacht Club.

He was the husband of the late Cecelia M. (Foppiano) Beckwith, who died in 2002, and his survivors include two sons, Asa A. Beckwith Jr. and his wife Sandy M. of Haverhill, James C. Beckwith of Sierra Vista, AZ, three daughters, Diane L. Zink and her husband William of Haverhill, Nancy M. Fairbanks and her husband Wayne of Groveland, Joanne M. Greene of Naples, FL, two brothers, Russell Beckwith and his wife Myrna of Theresa, NY, Seth Beckwith and his wife Shirley of Williamson, NY, a sister, Noreen VanLare and her husband Kenneth of Lyons, NY, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Beckwith was the brother of the late Al and Burton Beckwith and Christine Schulders.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral on Wednesday morning, Nov. 14, at 10:00 from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 in St. John The Baptist Church, Haverhill. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
