Salem, NH — Joan Frances (Devine) Remillard passed away unexpectedly at Holy Family Hospital on April 11, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Attorney John Remillard.
Born in Lowell on December 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Marion (Wilson) Devine.
Along with her late sister and mother, Joan was employed by the IRS for many years. Upon her retirement, she took a part-time job in the kitchen at the Bruce School in Lawrence. With her husband, she was a proud member of the Franco American War Veterans rising to the post of National President of the of the Ladies Auxiliary. Through this and her work, she made lifelong friends. She was a faithful member of St Joseph's Church in Salem. She will be remembered fondly as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Joan was the loving matriarch of a large close family. She enjoyed sharing her traditions with her eight children, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was proud to be an avid Red Sox fan through the good and the bad.
In addition to her loving husband of 59 years, Attorney John Remillard, Joan is survived by her children, John Remillard and his wife, Maureen, of Derry, Attorney Mary Ann Remillard of Salem, Richard Remillard and his wife, Linda, of Apollo Beach, Fla., Matthew Remillard and Mark Remillard of Salisbury, Susan Tanguay and her husband, John, of Salem, N.H., Kerri Ann Remillard of Methuen, and Robert Remillard and his wife, Melissa, of Londonderry. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Melissa McKallagat, John Remillard, Eric Remillard, Meaghan Remillard, Cory Remillard, Nikole Remillard, Ross Remillard, Neal Remillard, Jack Tanguay, Dylan Tanguay and Haley Remillard; as well as her two great-granddaughters, Ava McKallagat and Allanah Pirela.
She also leaves a sister, Evelyn St. Hilaire and her husband, Robert of Salisbury; a brother, Michel Devine and his wife, Patricia, of Methuen; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Marion (Wilson) and Raymond Devine, and her sister, Rita (Devine) Benjamin.
