Derry, NH — Laura L. McAvoy-Poe, 53, loving mother and wife, passed at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, N.H., on Sunday, April 21, 2013, after a long illness with her family at her bedside.
She was born in Lawrence on January 8, 1960, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Maki) McAvoy of Lawrence.
Laura was raised in Lawrence where she also attended the Lawrence school system and graduated from Lawrence High School. Recently, Laura worked as a school crossing guard at the Frost School in Lawrence for nine years.
She was loved and adored by all who knew her. Laura enjoyed traveling, being with family, and of course trips to the casino and bingo. She will be best remembered for her endless love and support and for her willingness to put her family’s needs ahead of her own.
Laura is survived by her husband, Kevin D. Poe of Derry, N.H.; her son, Christopher of Ayer, Mass.; her daughter, Kayla of Derry, N.H.; her brother, Scott McAvoy and his wife, Kathleen, of Derry, N.H.; and her sisters, Kandie Fredette and her husband, Raymond, of Lawrence and Catherine Traub and her husband, Leni, of Haverhill. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. Patrick’s Church, 118 South Broadway, Lawrence.
