Lawrence — Arthur L. Mell, 61, of Lawrence, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Lawrence General Hospital after a short illness.
Born and educated in Lawrence, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School with the Class of 1970. Arthur was an electronic technician with Raytheon in Andover, Mass. He was a member and former vice president of the Lawrence Rod and Gun Club, a dedicated and longtime member of the British Club in Lawrence. Arthur was an avid sports fan, especially the New England Patriots. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Arthur leaves his wife of 42 years, Sharon A. (Stoessel) Mell of Lawrence. He also is survived by his mother, Beatrice (Mell) Cassidy and his step-father, Robert Cassidy of Haverhill; two sons, Michael A. Mell of Lawrence and James B. Mell and his fiancée, Kimberly Cutrona, of Derry, N.H.; one brother, Gary L. Mell and his wife, Janice, also of Haverhill; grandchildren, Ariana Rose Mell, Olivia Carolyn Mell, Hailey Rae Mell, Abigail Stephanie Mell and James Bryan Mell, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Brian, Russell and Francis Stoessel. Arthur also leaves his niece, Jennie Mell and nephew, Brian Stoessel, Jr., and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arthur was the son of the late Arthur L. Mell.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours for family and friends will be Friday from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:00a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church in Lawrence, Mass., with burial to follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover, Mass.
