Interlachen, FL — Carol Davis Bridges Headley Smith, 68, of Interlachen, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 19, 2013. She was a native of Haverhill, Massachusetts and graduated from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, N.H. in 1962. In 1963 she graduated from MacIntosh Business College and then moved to Interlachen in 1964. She worked as a medical transcriptionist at hospitals in Florida and Georgia. Carol began playing piano at age two and became an accomplished pianist and organist and served as the pianist/organist for several area churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Arthur “Smitty” Smith and her parents, Lawrence C. Bridges and Elizabeth T. Davis Bridges.
She is survived by a son, Scott Headley and fiancée, Stephanie Spurlock, of Interlachen; a daughter, Michelle Davis and husband, Tim, of Gainesville; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Headley, Zachary, Tyler and Sam Davis and Hannah Headley; a sister, Elizabeth Kilgore of Interlachen; 2 step-children, David Smith of Interlachen and Susan Shanley of Narragansett, R.I.; 5 step-grandchildren, Steve, Phillip, Christina, Jennifer and Eric; 4 step-great-grandchildren and expecting 2 more soon and numerous cousins and friends.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the First Congregational Church in Interlachen with Pastor Irvin Joslin officiating. Burial will follow at PineView Cemetery in Interlachen. No visitation is scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the West Putnam Arts Council, P.O. Box 1374, Interlachen, FL 32148.
