Richard Edmonds, 84

Merrimack, NH — Richard "Dick" R. Edmonds, 84, longtime resident of Merrimack, N.H., died on Monday September 30, 2013, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, N.H., after a sudden illness.

He was born in Haverhill, Mass., on June 16, 1929, and was the son of the late Howard and Corrinne (Cormier) Edmonds.

Mr. Edmonds was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the end of WWII and the start of the Korean Conflict.

Prior to his retirement, he enjoyed a successful career at IBM.

In addition to serving his community, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and creating stained glass.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Irene "Renee" C. Edmonds of Merrimack; his son, Richard Jr. and his wife, Cindy Edmonds of Burlington, Vt.; his son, David and wife, Carol Edmonds of Merrimack, their two sons, David Jr. and his wife, Bridget, and his first great-grandchild, Amber ,of Ocoee, Fla., and Anthony Edmonds of Merrimack; his son, James and wife, Loretta Edmonds of Goffstown, N.H., and their four children, Matthew, Steven, Rosalie, and Jessica; and his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Mason of Merrimack, and their children, Sara and Alex; his sister-in-law, Louise Orlando of Haverhill, Mass.; and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara and Raymond Peabody, and Shirley and Joe Gurka.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be in the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, on Friday, October 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Road, Merrimack, on Saturday, October 5, at 10 a.m. Following cremation, a private burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Last Rest Cemetery, Merrimack.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Merrimack Senior Citizens Club, or the charity of your choice.
