Methuen, MA — Richard T. Yelle, 71, born and raised in Methuen, passed away on Friday October 4, 2013, as he was surrounded by his loving family. Richard was the son of the late Francis Yelle and Marie ( Fraughton) Yelle.
As a lifelong resident of Methuen, Richard obtained his undergraduate, pre-med degree from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. He also completed his graduate studies in biology at the University of New Hampshire, where he went on to become an assistant professor early in his academic career. At the time of his passing, Richard was employed by the Internal Revenue Service. In his youth, he was also a fine drummer and played with his three brothers’ quartet for weddings and parties. Richard was a kind and friendly man who had many hobbies and was well loved by his family and friends.
The caring survivors he leaves behind are Patricia Hannigan, currently of Derry, N.H., who was his lifelong love of 35 years; his brother Louis E. and wife, Janet, of Methuen; his sister-in-law, Janice Yelle of Methuen; his goddaughters, Kimberly Yelle of Londonderry, N.H., and Christina Hannigan of Methuen; several nieces and nephews; the many members of Patricia’s family whom he considered as his own; and countless good friends, who will miss him dearly.
Richard was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest Yelle and Frank Yelle, both from Methuen.
