Formerly of Hampstead, NH — Mary E. (Fletcher) Wilcox, 89, former longtime Hampstead, NH resident, died Wednesday morning, October 30, at Penacook Place Nursing Home.
She was born in Portland, ME, October 30, 1924, daughter of the late Daniel and Bernadette (Conley) Fletcher.
Her family moved to Glace Bay, Nova Scotia when she was young and Mrs. Wilcox was educated there.
At the age of 18 she moved to the Haverhill area and attended McIntosh Business School.
She was employed for a period of time at Hytron, Newburyport and until her retirement was employed as an Inspector at the former Western Electric, No. Andover.
Mrs. Wilcox was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a longtime member of VFW Lorraine Post #29 Ladies Auxiliary where she was past president and past District President and was extremely active in the Veteran’s community until her illness.
Mrs. Wilcox volunteered making audio books for the Perkins School for the Blind.
She was the wife of the late Richard Wilcox who died in 2009 and is survived by many close friends and will be sadly missed by the entire local veteran’s community.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her graveside service on Monday afternoon, November 4, at 1 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
