Bradford — Anne M. (Guard) Callahan, 87, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, November 1, 2013.
Anne was born in Haverhill, Mass., on January 8, 1926, to Timothy J. and Anne (Nagle) Guard.
She was a graduate of St. James High School and Salem State College. She was a Haverhill Public Schools teacher for many years, teaching Grades 1 and 4 at the Burnham, Fox and St. James Public School.
Anne was the beloved wife of the late John E. Callahan, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She was the beloved mother of Maura (Bill) Callahan Moccia, Noreen Callahan Carifio, both of Bradford, Eileen (Jim) Callahan McCarthy, and Kathy (Tom) Callahan Timmins both of Andover. She was the proud grandmother of nine, the late John Moccia, Andrew, Mary and Peter Moccia; Julie and Chrissy Carifio; Kaleigh and Conor Timmins, and John McCarthy. Anne also leaves her sister-in-law, whom she considered the sister she never had, Joanne Callahan Muldoon of Andover, whose unwavering devotion to Anne was such a gift. Anne was predeceased by her brother, John Guard.
Anne's family is profoundly grateful to the amazing staff of Prescott House in North Andover, whose loving care of Anne made her final years not only comfortable, but meaningful as well. Each of you will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m., from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. Calling hours will be Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
